Who We Are

AI Crossword Puzzle Maker is operated by Setagaya Studio, which is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. This policy covers the AI Crossword Puzzle Maker mobile app and this website. You can reach us at hello@setagaya.studio.

The app is built with your privacy in mind. We collect minimal data, we never sell your personal information, and no account is required.

Data Stored on Your Device

Your puzzles, progress, and preferences are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to this data and it is not uploaded to our servers. Deleting the app permanently removes it.

Puzzle Topics and AI Generation

When you enter a topic, that text is sent through a server we operate to Anthropic's Claude API to generate your puzzle. We do not store or retain your topics, and they are not used to train models. Anthropic processes this data under its own privacy policy.

Analytics and Crash Reporting

The app uses two Google Firebase services:

Firebase Analytics: Collects app usage events (such as puzzles started and completed), device model, operating system and app version, and an anonymous app instance identifier. This is used to understand how the app is used and improve it.
Firebase Crashlytics: Collects crash reports, including a stack trace, device state at the time of the crash, and an anonymous installation identifier, so we can find and fix bugs.

Neither service receives your puzzle content, and neither identifies you personally. See Firebase's privacy policy for details.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, the app schedules reminders locally on your device. Notification content is generated on your device and is not sent to or through our servers. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.

Puzzle Feed

The app downloads curated puzzle content and configuration from Google Firebase so we can refresh the feed without shipping an app update. This is a download only; no personal information is uploaded as part of it.

Subscriptions and Creator Codes

If you subscribe to Crossword+, payment is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment details. RevenueCat manages subscription entitlements and may process purchase receipts, expiry dates, and an anonymous user identifier used to restore purchases across devices. If you enter a creator or referral code, that code and your anonymous subscription identifier are sent to a service we operate so we can validate the code and credit the creator. No name, email address, or payment information is sent.

Website

This website uses Google Analytics via Google Tag Manager to measure traffic, which may collect pages visited, referring site, approximate country-level location, and device and browser type. This uses cookies, and consent is required before any analytics data is collected. You can change or withdraw consent at any time through the cookie banner.

Apple — payment processing and app distribution

No Account Required

AI Crossword Puzzle Maker does not require you to create an account, or to provide your name, email, or any other personal information to use the app. We do not sell or share your personal information.

Children's Privacy

AI Crossword Puzzle Maker is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, contact us at hello@setagaya.studio and we will delete it.

Your Rights

You can delete your puzzles and progress in the app at any time, limit analytics and crash reporting through your device's tracking and sharing settings, turn off notifications in device settings, and manage cookie consent on this website.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, delete, port, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to complain to your local supervisory authority. If you are a California resident, you have the right to know, delete, and correct personal information and to opt out of its sale or sharing; we do not sell or share personal information.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@setagaya.studio. Because the app has no accounts, we may need additional information to locate any data relating to you, and in many cases we will hold none.

Data Security

All network connections use HTTPS, and on-device data is protected by your device's built-in security features. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the date above. Continued use after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
